Internal Server Error

Old Today, 09:34 AM Mine is Hostgator.com shared hosting & since 2-3 months I'm seeing Internal Server Error on loading pages. But on refresh mostly they go off. Those are occurring sometimes only.

I've attached the screenshot of this typical error.

Mine is all Drupal/Mybb/PHPBB/Joomla and I've not updated in the last 3-4 months.

In the error logs in the Cpanel I also see many entries of:

[Tue Apr 09 04:37:40 2013] [error] [client 107.22.14.201] SoftException in Application.cpp:641: Could not execute script "/home/raggupta/public_html/mysite.com/index.php" I've also caught one error entry related to Internal Server Error: I've raised this in Mybb forum but I've not got any response. All I could find is that one reason of getting Internal Server Error is when number of connections exceed ( limit of 25).

Appreciate expert feedback!

Old Today, 10:26 AM Beside checking the owner, permission, have you checked with HG about your website usage? Is it over their CPU, RAM limitations?

Reply With Quote Old Today, 10:57 AM It could be that your resource usage is over what hostgator allows and they are showing 500 instead of a more descriptive error. It cannot really be errors with owner, permissions, etc. This would give you the error all the time - not just sometimes.

Reply With Quote Old Today, 11:06 AM This is quite a high number for a shared account. It's possible that they put more users on the server, or limits were changed when the company was sold recently, or your problem is completely unrelated. Have you asked hostgator to check what the problem is? I know that Godaddy shows 500 for overusage, but I am not sure about HG.

Have you submitted a ticket regarding this issue? If so, can you PM it to me?

Glad to see that someone from HG is here to help. Hope you can get this resolved.
Reply With Quote Old Today, 01:27 PM It looks like excessive resource usage to me. You might take a look at upgrading to a VPS or even a Semi-Dedicated packages.

But contacting HG support for a detailed investigation of the issues would be the best way to go initially.

Do you get any errors when login in to cPanel/WHM?

I think more likely it's a ulimit process count issue. It seems to only be occurring on short intervals 2-3 times throughout the day which leads me to believe it's coinciding with traffic spikes and/or crawlers.

We have some extended logging in place now so we'll know for sure by tomorrow.
